The Show So Far...

We are slightly less than a month away from the launch!

The Twitter account has been changed from @Thirty4thSt to @Candy_Graffiti. I will be changing the Facebook page as well.

We have a website up and running(ish)! I'm in the process of getting the pages up, fixing the code so that the graphics display properly, and fixing store listings. I have closed the Storenvy shop so that I can move the inventory to Etsy and the website. Once its finished, you can shop on the website if you want to buy stuff from both the Etsy and the old Storenvy inventory and the Etsy shop will automatically update. Yay for saving time!

Starting June 1st I will be taking preorders for new pieces I'm designing. :) These will be available in limited runs, as I can get the supplies for them. Details and photos coming soon!

I went ahead and changed over the Etsy store graphics. It was getting confusing having a mismatched store name and banner.

Also planning a launch party! Details to follow! <3

Shojono Tomo Live Art and Fashion Show

Tokyo Fashion was on hand at Shojono Tomo's live art and fashion show. They made a video covering the event, and it was awesome!

Tomo's outfits were a more literal take on pop kei. The garments themselves were white, with pop art illustrations painted onto them in bright neon colors with bold black outlines and graphics. Models walked the runway with flamboyant props including large baby bottles containing Barbies and blow-up dolls.

To cap off the show, she painted a T-shirt that had been altered to fit two people. Using spray paint, paint bottles, and brushes, she painted an abstract design on the shirt while the models were wearing it, in a mock wedding ceremony.

An exhibition following the show displayed more of Tomo's artwork, including sculptures, illustrations, and large canvases.

It was definitely an inspration. :) I can't wait to see what she does next!

Spank! Celebrates Ten Years

On May 11th, Spank! celebrated their 10th anniversary!

Spank! is legendary Japan, and known for pushing fairy and pop kei fashion to new heights of popularity. Spank! is one of my favorite brands to follow and one of my inspirations.

Syunsuke and Kumamiki were on hand to surprise Tavuchi, Choko and Yori with champagne, a cake made by Kumamiki, and gifts. Check out the video from Kumamiki's YouTube Channel below:

Congratulations Spank! Here's to another 10 years of fabulous street fashion. <3

Progress!!

The workroom is almost complete! Pics will follow at some point. We are moving things back and and will be putting up the thread rack this week.

I'm waiting for good light so I can shoot more inventory, including some new things that won't be available until the launch! :) Keeping a lot of it under wraps, but just know there will be unicorns and neon spikes. <3

Still working on how to incorporate Visual Kei into the line. I have a lot of pieces I want to rework and reshoot.

Until next time!! :3

We are live!

Hello world!

This is the official blog of what will be Candy Graffiti! What is Candy Graffiti?

Candy Graffiti is the relaunch and combining of two already existing Etsy stores: d.Kei, which is a Visual Kei Fashion line, and 34th Street, which is the Pop/Fairy Kei/Pastel Goth line. On June 21st they will merge into one shop.

Candy Graffiti will still have cute/kawaii items, but will lean more towards an edgier aestetic, with an emphasis on Visual Kei, Pop Kei, and Pastel Goth Japanese street fashion. Think lots of neon, spikes, skulls, and pop art.

In the meantime, we will post sneak peeks here on the blog, along with news, updates, and info about the launch. The links for the 34th Street shop are posted on the blog and will remain until the launch, and then they will change to Candy Graffiti. :)

Stay tuned!
